Alpe Adria Ultra 120
Alpe Adria Ultra 120 is the event's queen race: 118.15 kilometres and 8,730 metres of ascent across the Julian Alps, on the border between Italy and Austria — the balance between running, fast hiking and the pleasure of crossing an entire territory on foot.
A gently downhill start from Kile Alpine Resort, about 5 kilometres long, leads to the first climb towards Malga Rauna. From here you descend to Malborghetto, approaching the stretch heading straight for the Austrian border. A gradual but intense climb tackles the first 1,300 metres of ascent and leads to the first aid station at Rifugio Circiule, reached after crossing a spectacular suspension bridge.
From here the route follows the entire ridge at the foot of the Austrian border as far as Al Forcello, near Passo Pramollo, before descending towards Val Aupa and the first life base at km 54.1: aid station, drop bag and cutoff time.
You then enter the Prealpi Giulie Regional Nature Park, a wild, unspoilt alpine area: a fast stretch, then steep climbs and scree, technical sections, all the way to the second life base at Dogna, km 86.7.
From Dogna the Ultra joins the Jôf Trail course and follows it to the finish at Kile Alpine Resort, passing San Leopoldo, Chiut and Montasio. The race runs for a short stretch along the Austrian border: crossing it briefly, with no extra documents required.
A different approach
Cutoffs and maximum times are also designed with fast hiking in mind: here, the journey counts as much as the clock. Less support along the course, more self-sufficiency required — it's a choice, not a shortcoming.

Race Hub · Kile Alpine Resort
Via Saisera 65, Malborghetto-Valbruna (UD): the logistical heart of the Alpe Adria Ultra Trail, deep in Val Saisera.
The Race Hub is in Val Saisera, not in the centre of Valbruna village: right in the forest, in true trail spirit.
Event parking is free, outside the resort, about 150 metres away: follow signs P3, P4, P5 and P6 — P6 is the closest, P1 and P2 are further away. Motorhomes and vans use the same car park as cars.
On the valley road, the local cooperative's private checkpoint is confirmed again for 2027 (hours and prices to be finalised): it's a service separate from the organisation — event parking stays free.
