55 km Ultra: The essence of the Alpe Adria Trail, fast trails that make you stretch your stride, but also high-altitude sections of breathtaking beauty.

A race that combines the most beautiful sections of all the races, maintaining a strong alpine component but also leaving many sections where you can stretch your legs. Never on a bike path. Never on asphalt.

You start by going along the stream towards the imposing amphitheater that encircles the Val Saisera with the peaks of the Montasio Group, from here you occasionally come across peculiar sculptures that highlight distinctive elements of this forest. These are works of art made with resonance spruces, wood used for the manufacture of excellent quality musical instruments.

The Alpe Adria Ultra Trail takes place in conjunction with the Resonance Festival, discover all the activities.

Continuing along the path, you arrive at a theme park dedicated to the First World War: caves, slits, and strategic positions lead to reflect on what our ancestors must have experienced in these woods, a century ago. Thanks to detailed illustrative panels, you can learn about the historical events that took place among these trees, stories of life so intense as to be difficult to imagine.

A quick refreshment at the Polveriera di Valbruna and you are ready to face the high part of the race! You start with a constant but easy climb towards the Fratelli Grego Refuge. It’s worth stopping for a photo of the valley and the amphitheater that outlines the race track.

You start again with a stretch of ups and downs, mainly downhill, to be enjoyed at every step, stretching the pace and enjoying the climbs. After the descent along the Dogna stream, you climb the Jof di Somdogna and then descend a stretch and face the path towards the big challenge: The Nabois Fork, dominated by the two princes of the

Montasio Group: the Jof Fuart (2666 m) and the Jof Nabois (2313 m). A long and very challenging climb then opens up to the view of the Cima delle Rondini and the Pellarini Refuge, where a well-deserved refreshment awaits you.

You then continue on the path and on the forest road to the Sella Prasnig, then descend to Riofreddo and climb up along the path of the crosses: first a wide gravel path and very fast to run, then a stretch always on dirt along the river, almost flat, and finally a steep but constant climb towards Monte Lussari.

Having climbed to the Sanctuary of Monte Lussari you are at the highest point of the Snow Trail, the route that many have known in the winter version. From here you descend along the Alpe Adria Trail and the path of the Alpe Limerza, with a very steep descent but on a soft undergrowth of fir and beech. The descent ends in Valbruna and then you have a couple of kilometers of breath, in the placid forest of the valley floor, cuddled by the waters of the Saisera stream. The finish line is near. On arrival, disbelief and satisfaction for the enterprise and the goal achieved.
