First weather bulletin summer 2026

Alpe Adria Ultra Trail - Bollettino meteo

    Race update

    First weather bulletin

Forecasts indicate sun and intense heat from Wednesday, with the arrival of a strong African heatwave that will also have repercussions on the organisation of the race. Here is an initial summary of information and recommendations: we will update this article on Wednesday with more precise forecasts.

    Departure times

Jôf Trail 27 km and Ultra Jôf Trail 48 km: single departure at 5:30 (as already communicated last week).

Saisera Summer Trail 10 km and Pellarini Trail 20 kmdeparture confirmed at 9:00.

Saisera 10km and Pellarini 20km - no worries to start

At 9:00 AM it will still be cool and the initial climb is protected by the woods. However, attention should be focused on hydration throughout the day.

10km Race — All the Time to Enjoy Your Day

Those running the Saisera 10 will have plenty of time to tackle it at their leisure, without rushing, and will be able to stop at the 10:00 concert along the route, near the Great War refreshment point — in the morning, therefore with no risk related to thunderstorms (which, if they occur, should arrive after 4 p.m.). Even during your break, the recommendations already given still apply: hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a wet bandana, because the heat doesn't stop when you do.

    💧 General recommendations for everyone

    • Cap, sunglasses, and sun cream always with you.
    • Drink at all the rest stops, even before you're thirsty.
    • 💦 Wet your cap or bandana at every stream crossingIt is one of the most effective ways to lower body temperature in the heat.
    • ⚠️ Don't overdo mineral salts. They are useful, but should be used in the right quantities: too much can cause intestinal problems, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and worsen dehydration. If you drink a lot due to the heat, supplement with salts but always favour water.

What do you find at the refreshment stops

Watermelon, fruit, water, Coca-Cola and mineral salts, as well as biscuits and snacks. With these temperatures, we advise you to limit solid foods, which require more water to be digested.

At Pellarini Hut, and also at the Chiut and Base Vita aid stations for the 27 km and 48 km races, a solid and savoury refreshment stop will be available, to provide adequate caloric support for those undertaking the longer distances.

Saisera 10 km and Pellarini 20 km — final stretch

After the second stop at the Saisera refreshment point (km 17), the final kilometre in the stream bed will be challenging before the finish. Hydrate well during this section and arrive at the Saisera refreshment point with full water supplies.

⚠️ Jôf Trail 27 km and Ultra Jôf Trail 48 km — additional water required

Seven obliged (not simply invited) to double the amount of water provided for by the regulations. In addition to the Chiut refreshment point, in Val Dogna (approximately halfway along the 27 km route) there are two mountain springs where you can refill, but without daily ASL checks: if you are not used to mountain springs, bring a purification tablet or a filter, or increase your water supply. Hydration is essential.

⛔ Jôf Trail 27 km and Jôf Trail 48 km — compulsory kit: a proper windbreaker

Even with the expected heat, the mandatory equipment as per regulations remains the same, particularly the Real windbreaker (not a light K-Way). We will come to check: those who do not have the mandatory materials with them It won't start, even though they think they'll finish before 4 p.m. In the mountains, you have to be prepared for the unexpected.

    Afternoon thunderstorms and time gates

The day should follow the classic pattern of warm days in the mountains: sunny in the morning, but in the afternoon, especially after 4pm, short, intense thunderstorms are possible.

The time gates for the 27 and 48 km races are also designed for this purpose, to allow competitors to cross the most exposed ridges in the morning hours when the risk is lower. In case of a sudden storm, do not stop in exposed areas or those at risk of lightning/slipping: it should only last a few minutes.
